May Rotary Students of the Month for HUHS | By Ron Schlitt

May 30, 2025 – Hartford, Wi – The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce Magdalyn Lanfear and Isabel Lichtenwalner were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month. The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of May.

 

May Rotary Students of the Month for HUHS
Magdalyn Lanfear is the daughter of Sarah and Eric Lanfear. Lanfear has been active
at HUHS as a Project Lead of FIRST robotics team 1091, Environmental Club event planner
and manager, Math Team varsity member, Beamline for Schools research member and an Ozzy market cafe worker. She is President of the Robotics club and a member of the HUHS Student Council. She was named an AP Scholar and was recognized for her Beamline for Schools CERN shortlisted research proposal in 2023.

Lanfear has given back to her community by doing volunteer work for the DNR, the
Washington County Humane Society, and serving as a Humane Society ROMP camp
counselor. She plans to be certified as an EMT this summer.

After graduation from HUHS, Lanfear plans to attend MSOE to pursue a degree in
Biomedical Engineering.

Hartford Union High School
Isabel Lichtenwalner is the daughter of Jessica and Rick Lichtenwalner. Lichtenwalner
is actively involved in a variety of co-curricular activities at HUHS. She participated in the
Athletic Training Club (Grades 10,11,12), Math Club (Grades 11,12) and Best Buddies (Grade 11). Lichtenwalner served on the Executive Council of National Honor Society (Grades 11,12) and as Events Coordinator for H-Club (Grades 10,11,12).

She is a four-year member of the Track and Field team and served as captain for three years. Lichtenwalner competed in Cross Country (Grades 10,11,12) and was selected captain her junior year. Previously she participated in Orchestra and Student Council (Grade 9) and Girls Basketball (Grades 9,10).

Lichtenwalner has supported local organizations by volunteering her time working with
youth programs through the Hartford Parks and Recreation Department and supporting local organizations like the Salvation Army and St. Kilian Parish.

After high school, Lichtenwalner plans to attend the University of Wisconsin Stout to
study computer engineering with the hope of pursuing a career in the biomedical field. She also will run track on the UW-Stout women’s track team.
