December 16, 2025 – Slinger, Wi – CASE UPDATE: Slinger Police have solved the EMU theft case from March 2025.
If you remember the emu was part of a display at Piggly Wiggly. The story gained a lot of attention on mainstream media and it was a hot topic on social media.
Captain Josh Gullickson said, “We received many tips when the story first came out and one of the tips was fruitful.”
Gullickson said the adults were cooperative in turning over the ‘emu’ which was no worse for wear.
“We credit the power of the community to bring this to a positive end result,” said Gullickson.
According to police “All parties involved will be dealt with accordingly and have been cooperative. The emu is safe at Slinger PD until he can be reunited with his family. I want to thank everyone that assisted us in this case and brining it to a happy closure. All parties are of course innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and due to it being an open case we cannot disclose the names of those involved.”
The emu was part of a display for Shanky’s Whip, a brand of Irish Whiskey.
