Obituary | Martha Ann (Marty) Weber Watson of Slinger, Wi

February 10, 2026 – Slinger, Wi – Martha Ann (Marty) Weber Watson passed to the promise of eternal life peacefully after receiving her final communion and sacrament of the sick, with praying hands holding a rosary and a scapular draping her neck.

Praying our mom joins her loved ones including son David E. Watson & our father Michael L. Watson Sr., her parents John Edward Weber & Eleanor Mary (Hanson) Weber, sister Mary Ellen (Jack) Demchalk, brothers John Edward (Peggy) Weber Jr. & William James Weber. She is survived by her children Michael L. Watson Jr., Theresa E. Smith (John), Pamela Watson Konrath (Michael) & their children Melissa Wacek (Chris) & their children Grace and James; Rob, & Meghan; Dr. Shannon G. Watson & fiancé Armine Kourouyan, & David’s son Britton Allen Duke in Alaska.

Our mom was born and raised in Bonne Terre, MO. Bonne Terre Lake was our mom’s backyard and created the foundation for her love of the water. Her childhood friend Clara Slinkard shared our mom was an excellent student and the only girl in trigonometry class.

Our mother also spoke of her priceless childhood friends Judy Drier, Judy Holekamp, and Ellen Taylor. Our mom earned a teaching degree, served as a substitute teacher, waitress, and caregiver.

Our mom’s volunteer service included St. Peter’s Christian Mother’s, Slinger JCs founders, scouts, & assistant softball coach. During the time Theresa taught at St. Peter’s, our mom would often ride her scooter to visit Theresa during recess and play with the children. This added joy and laughter to her life.

Our mother and father met on Old Faithful Inn Yellowstone’s dance floor, working summers during college. They were beautiful dancers.

After marrying they moved to Ripon, WI, eventually settling in Cedar Lake Hills (CLH) on Big Cedar Lake in WI. They also shared a love of music and had beautiful voices. Happy memories include our parents singing us to sleep with an Irish Lullaby, Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra and signing to Neil Diamond on the kitchen eight track.

Our mother taught us to work, play, and pray hard, be independent and persevere. Chores needed to be completed before having the run of the neighborhood, fields, forests, and lake. Her voice could be heard calling us home for dinner from our deck all the way past our CLH beach and raft into the southern bay.

She helped to provide a life for her children in CLH when we drove minibikes and snowmobiles around the neighborhood track in the empty lots and down the path to the lake.

She would provide sweet tea to neighborhood children running around our home playing kick the can and ghosts in the graveyard. She taught us to dig for our own worms, catch, gut, clean, and cook our own fish.

Our mom and dad also provided a rite of passage of learning to snow and water ski. My mom and dad were a first-generation founding family in CLH which created traditions including boat trips to the Mississippi and Wolf River, snowmobile trips, rafting down the Wolf River, 4th of July Beef Bash, bowling league and bridge.

They led us across the country to visit relatives, and we portaged through the Boundary Waters.

Our mother was loved by her children, grandchildren, and great children. Her heart hurt being a small part of her grandson Britton’s life who lives in Alaska. Our mom was so grateful for her daughter Theresa who served as her primary caregiver for more than a decade.

Theresa coordinated her medical care, supported her emotionally, and would often visit 7 days a week, adding years to her life. My daughter Melissa’s children filled her final years with the manner of joy and love only grandchildren can provide. The final afternoon of her life Melissa, Grace and James provided her final smiles and laughter while visiting and then sledding outside her window.

All are welcome to send our mother off to eternal life with a beautiful Catholic mass after visitation at St. Peter’s Slinger, WI on Saturday February 14. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Our mother’s final resting place will be completed in spring with Easter’s promise of eternal life.

Our family is full of gratitude to you all who shared smiles, memories, respect and showed her unconditional love!

🍀Irish Blessing 🍀
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall softly on your fields
Until we meet again
May he God you in the hollow of his hand
