Town of Trenton, WI – “There’s excitement in the air,” said Ozaukee Christian School executive director Chris Bergstressor. The wheels of change are turning for OCS as God’s work is all coming together with a name change, a new building and the launch of high school grades.
Thirty families attended the first high school information night, including a handful of families not currently enrolled at OCS. The interest was encouraging.
“It wasn’t even on my radar that we’d see an increased interest in our lower grades from launching a high school,” said Bergstressor.
Yet every month new families tour the school to find out more about the little school with a simple goal to cultivate the next generation to impact the world for God’s glory.
Bergstressor credits God with bringing the right people to OCS, as the school year began with hiring additional support staff.
“And every teacher in every classroom is exactly who we need there,” said Bergstressor.
Meanwhile, Bergstressor’s rigorous oversight of the new building purchase and the plans to renovate it has revealed God’s further providence.
The general contractor does the majority of his work on Christian schools, and architects are also supportive of the OCS vision. God has put together an excellent team of his people to help the school through this transition.
OCS is raising funds for the renovations, but the former University of Wisconsin Milwaukee campus is usable as-is for next school year. UWM classes were last held there as recently as June of 2024, so the building, though not tailored toward younger students, is intact and could be used for classes from day one.
“We want God to bless this endeavor,” said Bergstressor.
Though there are still unanswered questions about OCS’s future, we know that with faith and prayer, God will move mountains.
“We have a culture of prayer in our school,” said Bergstressor. “It is one of our core tenets.”
So, we are inviting our partners to join us in focused, collective prayer. OCS will host Prayer Days on the first and fourth Thursdays of each month at 5 p.m.
“There has been an overwhelming sense of peace throughout this whole process in knowing God is in control and that people are praying for us,” said Bergstressor.
