West Bend, Wi – The audience at the COLUMNS Holiday Pops Concert offered the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra a warm welcome after the concert was delayed an hour as the musicians got caught in traffic. ” Well, you waited and you waited, and we’re committed to giving you a wonderful evening filled with just as much joy as that anticipation was able to build, which I’m sure was a lot,” said MSO conductor Ryan Tani.
Dressed in a white jacket, red bowtie and Santa hat, Tani said, “You know, I’m sure I can speak on behalf of all of us that we would have walked here to make sure that we got this right.”
The sold-out crowd did wait patiently and were well rewarded with musical selections including festive holiday songs like Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Mini Jazz Suite which included Dance of the Sugar Plums.

The orchestra was festive as well as they offset their formal black with a splash of tiny Santa hats on their instrument’s pegbox, or some members wore decorative headbands… while the bass section all came dressed in full-on Santa suits.

The evening ended with a traditional Christmas singalong which featured Deck the Hall, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, and Joy to the World… to name a few.
