Allenton, Wi – Construction of a new Dollar General in Allenton, WI, is progressing very rapidly.

Less than 11 days ago construction started uprighting the structural support pieces of the building.
As of Tuesday night it appears most of the work is now focused on the interior.
Dollar General will be located on the west side of Allenton as you go up the hill on Highway 33.

Who thought this is a good location to put a high traffic-generating retail store? More specifically, the only driveway location onto Hwy 33…on a curve on a steep hill with poor sight lines to oncoming highway traffic moving at different speeds in both directions at that point. 50+mph traffic from the east is just starting to decelerate as it heads down the hill and 35+mph traffic from the west starting to accelerate going up the hill while simultaneously passing “slower” traffic and postering for position in both lanes. Can’t wait to have to navigate around delivery semi trucks slowly pulling out and heading up the hill from a dead stop and other nervous and impatient customers waiting for and anticipating a big enough gap to safely leave the site in either direction. This is a disaster waiting to happen… just like the Powder Hill Rd @ Hwy 60 intersection on the curve & hill by Pike Lake between Hartford and Slinger.
Alleluia! Finally some viable useful retail. In town. I just hope they are friendly and helpful. If you’re worried traffic I’d worry about 33 and 41 intersection. And don’t forget the trains. I love the trains. Allenton could be a great place with a couple good retail options, ie. Grocery, restaurant,
