“We are pleased to announce that Mike Darrow is acquiring Timmer’s Resort on Big Cedar Lake, Washington County, WI, from F Street. This purchase decision is motivated by stewardship, to preserve the history and tradition of Timmer’s Resort, enjoyed by and for generations of families, including his own. In what is expected to be a seamless transition, Timmer’s will remain intact, creating cherished memories for future generations of families and guests within our community. Additionally, consideration of this purchase was given with the Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation in mind to ensure the environmental mission and integrity of this iconic Big Cedar Lake property.

Going forward, the Timmer’s restaurant business will be owned and operated under the experienced leadership of local, award-winning restaurateur, Tony Koebel, best known for The Norbert and The Orville in downtown West Bend. Tony will bring his stellar reputation and expertise to ensure the high-quality, fine-dining experience that Timmer’s has represented throughout its storied history.

The closing of this sale is currently scheduled for December 12, at which time the restaurant will be closed to the general public, ensuring a smooth transition to reopen on March 15 of the new year. Please be sure to follow Timmer’s Resort on social media for future news and updates.

We could not be more excited for this transition and appreciate the past, present, and future support of our community!

The latest 2025 assessed value on the property is below.

The parcel was reportedly listed for sale for a hair under $6 million.

Mike Darrow said closing on the purchase will take place in the next couple of weeks. Below is a history article on when George and Judi Prescott sold the Timmer’s property in 2018.

On a history note:

In 2018 an article was published on WashingtonCountyInsider.com regarding George and Judi Prescott and their ties to Timmer’s Resort.

It was August 23, 2018 when the story ran on WashingtonCountyInsider.com that George Prescott and his wife Judi confirmed Timmer’s Resort was up for sale.

“I decided after 10 -12 years I have a nice sense of accomplishment that I brought the resort back to life and I’ll turn it over to somebody else now to let them take it on,” George Prescott said.

The new owner is F Street Hospitality in Milwaukee. “We are looking forward to celebrating the history and tradition that makes Timmer’s Resort so special,” said owner Scott Lurie. “And to ensure guests receive the same experience they’ve grown accustomed to after all of these years.”

George Prescott has been working on the sale of Timmer’s for several months. “The business is in good hands,” said Prescott. ”

The closing on the sale happened Friday morning, Dec. 14, 2018, and Prescott said he was feeling a little “spent.”

“This was a difficult decision but very bittersweet,” he said.

“I liked Scott because he was the most proactive on where he thought he could take Timmer’s Resort and restaurant. I think they’re going to do some good things for Timmer’s, the community and Big Cedar Lake.”

Asked what he’s going to do now with all his free time Prescott said one thing. “Grandkids. Grandkids,” he said. “I haven’t succeeded much in the past with retiring but I think this time it’s going to stick.”

The Prescotts, who live on Big Cedar Lake, paid $1.75 million for Timmer’s Resort and restaurant in October 2007. That was a little more than half the original $3.49 million asking price. Today’s sale price has not been released.

Prescott qualified Timmer’s as “a special place.”
