March 18, 2026 – West Bend, Wi – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Russell W. Averill, 73, of West Bend, Wi.
Russell was born to the late LeRoy and Marilyn (Thelen) Averill on April 29, 1952.
He had a lifelong love of sports and especially enjoyed coaching and watching his sons, Patrick and Ryan, from Little League through their high school years.
Russell enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf, and his daily walks with his four-legged companion, Maverick.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his brothers, Rick Averill, Ross (Rick’s twin) Averill, and William Averill; father-in-law William Krueger; and sister-in-law, Connie Averill.
Russell is survived by his wife of 52 years. Jane; his sons, Patrick (Lindsey) and Ryan; grandson, Carter Averill, sister, Renee Averill, brothers, Randy (Judy) Averill, Roger Averill, Roy (Carolyn) Averill, and Reid (Maria) Averill; mother-in-law, Helen Krueger; sisters -in law, Carol Averill and Nancy Lindmeyer; along with many extended family members and friends.
Private services for immediate family are being planned.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Russell’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
Phillip Funeral Home has been entrusted with Russel’s arrangements.
