March 6, 2026Heerenveen, NL – Jordan Stolz scored a silver at the Sprint Championships coming in a close second behind Dutch favorites Jenning De Boo. After two days of competition and four races Stolz collected 135.5 points compared to gold-medalist Jenning De Boo who finished with 134.67 points. Stolz and De Boo were a one-two punch during the entire event with De Boo winning both 500m races; the pair split the 1000m with Stolz picking up his first 1000m win on Friday.

While skaters that competed in the Sprint Championships can relax, Stolz has about 12 hours to sleep, regroup, and prepare for the Allrounds which includes two 500m races, a 5000m, and a 10,000m on Sunday.

“I got a silver and I’m going to see if I can make a gold out of it,” he said referencing the next series of four races. “I think it’s going to be hard. I’m a little tired now but I’ll see what I can do.”

Stolz said his plan all along was to compete in both races, even though it is extremely demanding coming off three weeks and four races at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“I peaked for the Olympics and then it wasn’t the best leading up to here. I don’t know why he (De Boo) had a really good prep for some reason,” Stolz said.

The next two days will be comprised of longer races, something Stolz does not normally focus on. “We’ll have to see how it goes,” he said optomistically. “I’ve been feeling pretty good in my longer laps so we’ll only be able to tell tomorrow.”

Grilled about his performance and the upcoming series Stolz mentioned fatigue and the obvious physical pain involved in the longer races. Questioned why he’s putting himself through this at the end of the season, “Why not,” he said. “I have the opportunity and the potential to try and do both so I may as well.”

On a side note:

-Coach Bob Corby to the rescue as he helped direct the awards ceremony by instructing organizers on the appropriate placement of the USA flag. The flags of each winning country are raised at the end of the medal ceremony.

Corby looked at the flags hanging from the bar and the USA flag was upside down.  He ran over to make the correction – the flag was taped to the bar and then one more tweak and it was set to go. Cheers to Corby for sharing his flag etiquette.

The pairings for Saturday in the 500m, feature Stolz skating 10th vs. Riku Tsuchiya of Japan. In the 5000m Stolz skates in the fourth pairing vs. Gabriel Odor of Austria.

-The track record in the 5000m belongs to Patrick Roest with a time of 6:04.36. Stolz personal best is 6:14.76. The skaters to keep an eye on include Casey Dawson of the USA who has clocked a 6:01.84, Timothy Loubineaud of France who has a 6:00.23 under his belt and Peder Kongshaug of Norway is always a tough contender.
