$5 million cash bond set for hatchet attack suspect in attempted homicide/sexual assault

June 25, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co.,  Wi – Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney announced Judge Tricia Walker set a $5 million cash bond, as requested by the State, for Hayden L. Daffinson.

The defendant is charged with Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide, First Degree Sexual Assault, two counts of Mayhem, First Degree Reckless Injury, Aggravated Battery, Felony Intimidation of a Victim, and False Imprisonment.

All charges include Domestic Violence and Dangerous Weapon enhancers. The
defendant currently faces over 190 years of initial prison confinement and additional
charges as anticipated as the investigation progresses. The Preliminary Hearing is
scheduled for July 31, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Anthony Nehls. The defendant
is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.

District Attorney Toney said, “The allegations in the criminal complaint are
unconscionable that someone could do that to another person. We will work with our
law enforcement partners to ensure the Victim and the community are protected from this defendant.”

This case is being investigated by the City of Fond du Lac Police Department with
assistance from the Germantown Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol and is
being prosecuted by District Attorney Eric Toney.
