Trail Sharks Mountain Bike Team finish strong at Fall River race | By Melissa Schubert

Washington Co., Wi – The Trail Sharks Mountain Bike Team had another great NICA weekend race/festival weekend as they participated in the third race of the season at Englewood Grass Farm in Fall River.

With it being a full league event there were just over 1100 registered athletes participating in the race on Sunday, September 28. There were 27 athletes representing our team with one athlete taking the podium.

This race venue is a private course built in a working farm, only opened for special events like WORS (Wisconsin Off Road Series), Pro XCT & XCO races and this NICA race. Features include flyovers, punchy climbs and technical rock gardens, with berms and tabletops along with plenty of passing opportunities throughout the course.

The dew-covered grass caused havoc for the morning racers – athletes sliding out in the grassy corners with several causing pileups.

The sun eventually helped dry out the slippery corners, but then the temperatures rose close to 80s for the afternoon racers. Some multi-lap racers were taking water bottles just to dump over the top of them to cool off.

Lauren Ryan is about to make her descent on the first of several wooden flyover features on the course.

Their next festival weekend will be October 4-5 with the race on Sunday at Camp Tesomas in Rhinelander.
