UPDATE | Candidates across Washington Co., WI file for Spring Election April 2026

West Bend/Washington Co., Wi – There is a Spring Election on April 7, 2026. Nomination papers and signatures were due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. If a primary is needed it will be February 17, 2026.

Below is a list of seats coming up for election, candidates who have filed papers and others who have filed non-candidacy.

NOTICE OF SPRING ELECTION State of Wisconsin
April 7, 2026

An election is to be held in the towns, villages, cities, wards, and election districts of the State of Wisconsin, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The following officers are to be elected:

Judicial Officers

One (1) Justice of the Supreme Court, for the term of ten (10) years, to succeed the present incumbent listed, whose term of office will expire on July 31, 2026:

One (1) Court of Appeals Judge, for the term of six (6) years, to succeed the present incumbents listed, whose terms of office will expire on July 31, 2026:

COURT OF APPEALS JUDGE DISTRICT 2 Lisa S. Neubauer

One (1) Circuit Court Judges, each for the term of six (6) years, to succeed the present incumbents listed, whose terms of office will expire on July 31, 2026:

All Washington County, Wi, supervisors are up for election in April 2026. Out of 21 districts there will be two contested races. In District 1 representing West Bend, Tom Funk will challenge incumbent Joe Vespalec. In District 13 representing the Village of Richfield, incumbent Brian Gallitz will face challenger Danah Zoulek at the polls on April 7, 2026.

In the City of Hartford, WI all three incumbents turned in papers to run again including Alderman Dist. 1 Jeff Turchi, Alderman Dist. 2 Chad Waldvogel, and Dist. 3 Tina Savage. All are running unopposed.

Hartford Union High School

Hartford Union High School Board President Tracy Hennes will not seek reelection in April 2026. Her seat carries a 3-year term. Two candidates who filed to run include Jenny Guillen and Todd Bultman.

There are six candidates running for 4 trustee seats on the Village of Germantown board: two incumbents filed non-candidacy including Rick Miller and Kristen Boost.  No-one applied for Dist. 4 trustee.

Germantown School District

Germantown School District had two school board incumbent seats with 3-year terms up for election on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

School Board Seat #3  incumbent Kim Higginbotham
School Board Seat #5 incumbent Eric Brown

The term of office for school board members begins Monday, April 27, 2026.

Village of Jackson

Village of Jackson trustee John Kruepke decided not to run again this spring. Two incumbents Don Olson and Traci Wells turned in their papers as well as John Schlenz.  Schlenz ran in the past and was unsuccessful.

Overview

The Village of Jackson’s Village Board is composed of a Village President and six (6) trustees, whose term shall be two years long.  The Village President and three trustees are elected at the annual spring election in odd-numbered years and the remaining three trustees are elected at the annual spring election in even-numbered years.  Village of Jackson Ordinance, Sec. 2-23.

Village of Kewaskum

In the Village of Kewaskum three (3) Trustee positions will be on the ballot. The top three candidates will serve a term of 2 years. So far Gary Gavin is the only confirmed candidate.

 

Kewaskum School District

There are three seats up for election on the Kewaskum School Board. Incumbents Dennis Aupperle and Stephanie Bird turned in papers. Sue Miller filed non-candidacy. Papers were turned in by Mark Steiner, who after the ballot draw is listed first followed by Bird and then Aupperle.

In the Village of Slinger – Three incumbents on the Village Board are up for election: Jeff Behrend, Lee Fredericks, and Marlyss Thiel.

 

In the Village of Slinger – Three incumbents on the Village Board filed papers to run again: Jeff Behrend, Lee Fredericks, and Marlyss Thiel.

Slinger School District

In the School District of Slinger, candidates filing include incumbents:

Christopher Goeman – One Year Term (Due to an appointee fulfilling a vacancy)

Brenda Lighthizer – Three Year Term April 2029
Jody Melius-Strupp – Three Year Term April 2029

Term for the one-year begins Monday, April 27, 2026, and expires Sunday, April 25, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Terms for the three-year begin Monday, April 27, 2026, and expire Sunday, April 22, 2029, at 11:59 p.m.

After the results of the April 7, 2026, election, votes will be canvassed. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to the two three-year seats, and the candidate receiving the third-highest number of votes will be elected to the one-year seat.

In the Town of Barton, supervisor Bill Russell is up for election. Early word is Ben Naylor was collecting signatures to vie for the seat.

Town of West Bend

In the City of West Bend, mayor and all odd-numbered aldermanic seats are up for election to a two-year term.

2026 Aldermanic Seats up for Election (two-year term):
District 1 (Representing wards 1, 2, 3, 24, & 27)
District 3 (Representing wards 6, 7, & 8)
District 5 (Representing wards 11, 12, & 13)
District 7 (Representing wards 18, 19, & 23)

Aldermanic candidates had to gather 20-40 signatures and mayoral candidates had to gather 200-400 signatures.

There are 3 incumbents on the West Bend School Board whose terms are up in April 2026 including Kelly Lang, Chad Tamez, and June Kruger. The term of office for school board members is three years beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, and ending April 22, 2029.
