Walk when the Moon is Full at the Kettle Moraine State Forest on February 1, 2026 | By Jackie Scharfenberg

Cambpellsport, Wi – A winter, full moon casts a magical aura throughout the nighttime woods. Make your way to the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit on Sunday, February 1, to join the Friends of the Kettle Moraine as we travel the 2-mile Tamarack Trail around Mauthe Lake by the light of the moon.

Moon

Meet at 6 p.m. at Forest Headquarters, N1175 County Road G, Campbellsport. Remember to come dressed for the weather, including snow boots and ice creepers. This walk is best for folks over eight years old.

The evening will start with an explanation of some fascinating moon facts. Then we will head out to explore the moonlit woods and at an open spot share a few legends from around the world. What will you see in the face of the full moon?

For more information about this wonderful family event or directions, contact the Friends of the

Kettle at (920) 313-1566 or via email at friendsofthekettlemoraine@gmail.com. If the weather does not cooperate – icy trails, snowstorm, or severe cold temperatures, we will cancel the walk. Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies.
