Washington Co., Wi – The Wisconsin NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) fall race season kicked off this weekend at Mt. Telemark in Cable, WI. The Washington County Trail Shark Mountain Bike Team had 19 student-athletes that participated and had one athlete take the podium with a third-place finish, Gracelyn Beimborn.

The tips of the trees are just starting to turn red and yellow, and the mornings started off with crisp cool fall temps. There were over 900 registered athletes that made the trip to the north woods for the festivities.
The course had some long double-track hills to climb, but the athletes were rewarded with some fast and fun singletrack flow trail.
At the awards ceremony, there were a few special guests that were acknowledged and spoke such as John Burke, president of Trek Bicycles, and Tracy Paradise, co-founder of the One Track Mind Foundation, because their foundations in collaboration with The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation are playing a huge part of getting more mountain bike trails added to the Mt Telemark trail system.
The next race will be at Minooka Park, Waukesha, on September 14.
