West Bend, WI – Motorists in West Bend, WI will have to find an alternate route as 18th Avenue will be closed Monday, April 18, 2022 to early August 2022. The complete road closure will be just past the entrance to the clinic north of Paradise Drive to Vogt Drive.
“The entrance to the West Bend Health Center on 18th Avenue will be open,” said Mary Pyritz with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). “People who want to visit Washington County Memorial Park will have to use the entrance on Paradise Drive.”

Vehicles followed Vietnam veteran Terry Vrana’s vintage military Jeep past Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, Holy Angels Cemetery and Washington County Memorial Cemetery. They would also pass the home of World War II veteran Allan Kieckhafer.
Calls have been placed to pre-parade organizers and an updated route will be posted when information becomes available.
Construction on 18th Avenue will include storm sewer installation, roadway excavation, curb and gutter installation, sidewalk installation, roadway reconstruction, pavement markings, and restoration of disturbed areas. A detour route will be posted.

It was April 2018 when a similar construction project was completed on 18th Avenue north of Vogt Drive to Decorah Road.
Motorists are reminded to abide by all traffic control signs and devices, as well as be aware of ongoing construction activities. Alternate routes should be planned to avoid construction.
