West Bend, Wi – Interfaith Caregivers of Washington County, Wi honored two incredible volunteers, Lee Harmon and Alan Nevala who have each driven more than 100,000 miles for Interfaith Caregivers. To put it into perspective, that’s about four times around the circumference of the earth.

Lee Harmon, 84, has been volunteering at Interfaith Caregivers for 12 years.
“I just love people, and I love to drive and they’re all my age,” he said.
Harmon is at Interfaith almost daily, driving those in need to doctor appointments and down to the V.A. in Milwaukee. Clients have developed a strong fondness for Harmon, who gets them there in a timely fashion, wheels them in, and then is there waiting when the appointment is over to drive home.
According to Interfaith, Harmon has completed 4,647 rides for 100,982 miles. He has volunteered 5,702 hours.
Nevala has been a volunteer driver since 2012 and has completed 5,124 rides and driven 123,820 miles while volunteering 6,136 hours.
The pair weren’t racing to outdo each other; they were simply giving of their time.
With gratitude, Interfaith Caregivers gifted them t-shirts to celebrate the mileage milestone.
“Their dedication, compassion, and countless hours behind the wheel have made a lasting difference in our community,” said Interfaith executive director Melanie Gonring. “We are truly thankful.”
