VIDEO | Planning for the 2025 Memorial Day Parade with a Flashback to the 2017 Parade in West Bend, WI

West Bend, WI – The following observance will be held for Memorial Day, May 26, 2025 in West Bend, WI. An early morning “pre-parade” will be held by visiting local cemeteries to pay tribute to veterans who have passed away.
Memorial Day Parade in West Bend
The Memorial Day parade is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. sharp.
Line up for the parade will be from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on South Main Street between Oak Street and Decorah Road. Anyone interested in participating in the parade is asked to contact Steve Rohde at 414-581-4381. Student groups are welcome.
The parade will end at the Tower Heritage Center on Sixth Avenue and Poplar Street, with the program to follow shortly after.

“The purpose of the Memorial Day parade and program is to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said Parade Chairperson Steve Rohde. “Therefore, the tossing of candy, giving out handouts or commercial advertising will not be allowed in this parade.”
The public is cordially invited to attend the parade and program. Those attending the program are asked to bring their own chairs.
Further details will be released at a later date.

 

West Bend, WI – Memorial Day is here and as is tradition, West Bend will host its Memorial Day Parade.

This day began as Decoration Day which we now call Memorial Day.

The parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. sharp at the corner of S. Main and Oak Street. It will end at the Old Courthouse Plaza on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Poplar Street.

The program will start approximately 30 minutes after the parade ends.​

The Memorial Day program pays honor to the men and women who died while serving in the U. S. military.

In 2017 U.S. Navy veteran Allan Kieckhafer was the Master of Ceremonies. The Reverend Jeff Hesse from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend gave the Invocation and Benediction.

John Kleinmaus read General Logan’s Order No. 11 followed by East High School freshman Lydia Winklbauer who recited the “Gettysburg Address.”

Natalie White, an East High School freshman recited the poem, “In Flanders Field,” and Emma Seymer, East High freshman will recite the “Preamble to the Constitution.”

 

The Memorial Day speaker was the Rev. Clarissa Martinelli of Fifth Avenue Methodist Church.

Veterans will remain after the program to visit with those attending.

Boy Scout Troop 780 will be selling brats, hot dogs and soda at the Plaza.

In case of inclement weather, the program will be held inside the Old Courthouse Museum.

Above is a rebroadcast of the 2017 Memorial Day Parade. The weather was sunny and temps were in the 60s but it was mighty windy … hence a bit of motion steadying the camera.
