September 13, 2026 – Town of Addison- On Saturday, September 12, 2026, at approximately 4:20 a.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting that a vehicle had crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of County Highway S and Fork Road in the Town of Addison.
The caller further advised that wires were down across the roadway and it was unknown if someone was still in the vehicle.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded and requested additional assistance from the Hartford Police Department. The Saint Lawrence Fire Department was paged, and We Energies was also notified of the power lines down.
Upon arrival of officers, it was determined the vehicle had been in a highspeed crash with the Utility pole, and the driver was located inside the vehicle deceased.
An initial investigation determined that a 21-year-old Horicon resident was east bound on County Highway S when the vehicle drifted off the roadway into the south shoulder.
The vehicle then crossed back into the north shoulder, became airborne, and struck the utility pole. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and the Washington County Medical Examiners Office.
The Washington County Highway Shop assisted in closing County Highway S between Highway 83 and Level Road. County Highway S will remain closed until approximately 2 p.m. to assist We Energies in the replacement of the utility lines and pole.
