West Bend, Wi – United Way of Washington County kicked off its 89th annual campaign with more than a rally cry as 400 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and participated in “Packing for a Purpose” with a goal to generate more than 15,000 snack packs destined for 25-plus local nonprofits and schools serving children and seniors.
“This event is about more than packing snacks — it’s about showing what happens when a community unites around a shared purpose,” said Sarah Stadler, Campaign Co-Chair. “The need is growing, and these snack packs will provide comfort and nourishment to thousands of neighbors who might otherwise go without.”

The event doubles as the official launch of United Way’s most important fundraising effort of the year. Dollars raised through the annual campaign fuel more than 25 programs at over 20 local nonprofits tackling Washington County’s most urgent needs: health, financial security, youth opportunity, and community resilience.
Last year’s campaign raised more than $1.9 million — a tough act to follow. But campaign leaders say they’re aiming even higher.

“To raise even one dollar more than last year, it will take all of us,” said Casie Meyers, Co-Chair of the 2025 Campaign. “Every gift — no matter the size — fuels vital programs right here in Washington County. Packing for a Purpose is proof of what we can accomplish when we work side by side.”
United Way CEO Kristin Brandner praised the energy in the room.
“The momentum from today is exactly what we need as we launch the campaign. It’s inspiring to see hundreds of people rolling up their sleeves, giving their time, and investing in a stronger community. We hope that spirit carries through every workplace, every neighborhood, and every donor in Washington County.”

United Way of Washington County invites everyone to take part in the 2025 Campaign and help every neighbor reach their full potential. The campaign runs through December 31, 2025. Donations can be made online at www.UnitedWayOfWashingtonCounty.org
