Roads snow covered & slippery in Washington Co. and surrounding areas

March 16, 2026 – Washington Co., Wi – There is a lot of blowing and drifting and even though plows are out roads are in pretty dicey driving condition.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution and stay home unless absolutely necessary.

The main roads have been plowed but there is only one passable lane in each direction.

-Schools across Washington County, Wi, have closed and businesses are calling in closures as well.

-Tennies Ace Hardware opens at 8 a.m. with a small supply of generators but a big supply of shovels and sidewalk salt.

-Horicon Bank is closed in West Bend, Wi and surrounding areas.

-Interfaith Caregivers is closed.

-Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing is closed.

Maus

-Maus Jewelers is closed Monday.

-VFW on Sand Drive is closed

-United Way of Washington County offices are closed in Hartford, Wi.

Bottom Line Up Front
  • Blizzard conditions are ongoing due to blowing and drifting snow, with north-northwest gusts of 40-45 mph, reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less across much of southern WI.
    • Treacherous travel is expected through the morning given widespread wind-blown and snow-covered roads.
  • Blizzard Warnings are not dependent on snowfall amounts, but several additional inches of snow are expected through the morning.
    • Already seen 4-9 inches fallen as of 1 AM, but an additional 6–10 inches are possible for east-central WI, 4–8 inches for southwest and south-central WI, and 3-5 inches for southeastern WI.
    • Bands of moderate to heavy snow with 1/2-1 inch per hour are moving through southern WI early this morning and will continue into the early afternoon tapering in intensity from southwest to northeast throughout the afternoon.
  • Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 4 pm this afternoon. However, conditions may improve later this morning into the early afternoon  from the southwest to northeast and adjustments to the end times are possible.
What has changed?
Current forecast remains on track with blizzard conditions persisting through the morning commute.
