June 12, 2026 – West Bend, WI – On June 12, 2026, at 12:10 a.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling 100 MPH on State Highway 33 entering the City of West Bend.

During the stop, the driver, a 49-year-old City of West Bend woman, displayed signs of impairment and subsequently failed standardized field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense). An evidentiary chemical test later indicated a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.
During the investigation, deputies learned the driver had left minor children, ages 7 and 9, unattended at a local hotel while going out drinking. The West Bend Police Department subsequently responded to investigate those potential child neglect concerns.
Probation and Parole also placed a hold on the driver, and she is currently in custody at the Washington County Jail.
This incident serves as a reminder that impaired driving places everyone at risk. Choosing to drive after consuming alcohol not only endangers motorists, passengers, and pedestrians, but can also have serious consequences for families and children.
