Hubertus, Wi – My name is Andrew Zellner, and I am a Life Scout with Troop 139 working toward completing my Eagle Scout Service Project.

For my project, I am organizing a series of food drives benefiting the Wisconsin Homeless Veterans Initiative (WHVI).
I have set a goal of collecting 10,000 food items for Wisconsin veterans in need, and my next food drive is Sunday, August 30.
We held our first food drive at the Richfield, Slinger, and Hartford Piggly Wiggly stores, and the response from our community was incredible.

In just one day, we collected:
1,667 food items
$2,616 in monetary donations
It was an amazing start toward my 10,000-item goal, and I am very grateful for everything our community donated, as well as all of the Scouts, adults, family members, Piggly Wiggly stores, and volunteers who helped make the first drive successful.
After the first drive, I spoke with the Wisconsin Homeless Veterans Initiative about what they currently need most. For my upcoming drives, we will be focusing on:
Cereal
Shelf-stable milk
Rice or boxed rice
Granola bars
My Next Food Drive
Sunday, August 30
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
at the following Piggly Wiggly locations:
Richfield
Slinger
Hartford
I would really appreciate any help Washington County Insider could provide in sharing my project and upcoming food drive with the community. I still have a long way to go to reach 10,000 items, and getting the word out to more people would make a huge difference.
My hope is not only to reach my goal, but to bring our community together to help Wisconsin veterans and make sure the Wisconsin Homeless Veterans Initiative has the food they need to support the people they serve.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project and for considering helping me get the word out. I really appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Andrew Zellner
