Olig said his values were instilled in the comfort found in a small-town way of life.

“My parents grew up on a farm in New Holstein,” said Olig. “When we moved to West Bend, I remember growing up a block away from Moraine Park, we played all the time and I remember the tornado when it tore out my entire neighborhood.”

Olig worked his way through college and spent some time in finance and engineering before finding his niche in health care and hospice. “It was my wife who worked in health care,” said Olig. “We teamed up with our friend Jenny Reno and since becoming established in 2013 haven’t looked back because we whole heartedly believe in what we do.

“One of the key principles of By Your Side Hospice is its focus on the whole person, not just their physical needs,” said Olig.

Taking experiences from his previous employers, Olig worked to instill those best practices in By Your Side Hospice.

“We provide holistic care, addressing the emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of each patient’s life,” he said. “This approach ensures patients receive comprehensive support tailored to their individual needs and preferences.”

“Our goal is to truly be by the side of our patients, their families, and our staff,” said Olig.

As a company, Olig feels taking care of patients starts with a solid staff. “We wanted to take care of our staff with profit sharing, really great health care benefits, and then extending that to our patient care by offering a lot of additional therapies.”

Olig said his approach is not driven by the dollar, but by how he can approach unique situation with a solution. “We have thing come up all the time. It would be easy to say ‘that’s not a hospice problem’ but we say how can we help? Can we pay for it? Can we connect them with someone; whatever it is, we have a lot of experts that care, and we can help one way or another.”

By Your Side Hospice offers a range of services, including pain management, symptom control, and emotional support for both patients and their families. The team works closely with patients’ doctors to develop personalized care plans that prioritize comfort and quality of life.

By Your Side Hospice has already made a significant impact in the community. Their commitment to compassionate care and willingness to go above and beyond for their patients have earned them praise from patients, families, and healthcare professionals alike.

By Your Side Hospice is not just a business for Olig and his wife; it’s a labor of love and a reflection of their core values. The couple believes in providing the best quality of life for their patients, ensuring they are comfortable and supported every step of the way.

This commitment extends to their team of dedicated professionals, who share their vision and passion for compassionate care.

“We are dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care to those in need,” he said. “Our hope is to make a positive difference in the lives of their patients and their families, offering comfort, support, and dignity during a difficult time.

“We want people to know, we’re not coming in to take something away, we’re coming in to give additional care.”
