Cedar Community’s memory care, The Cottages, also received a deficiency-free survey. “This is a well-deserved honor for our team who continues to persevere through these ever-changing times of uncertainty. We continue to strive to provide best-in-class care in a dignified and purposeful environment and are deeply appreciative of the dedication and support of our team, including our current leadership team who provides guidance and support,” says Amy Meyer, RN, NHA, MBA, vice president of operations.

A deficiency is a violation of federal and/or state regulation. Surveys are not announced to the facility. They may be conducted at any time including weekends, 24 hours a day. Nursing homes participating in Medicare and Medicaid are required by federal law to undergo an annual survey and certification process.

Nursing homes must be in substantial compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements, as well as state law. All nursing homes that are certified for either Medicare, Medicaid, or both are required to abide by federal and state regulations. The regulations require nursing homes provide quality care and quality of life that is sufficient for residents to attain and maintain their highest practicable physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
