November 4, 2025 – Slinger, Wi – On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 8:36 a.m., the Slinger Fire Department was dispatched to the 2800 block of State Highway 175 in the Town of Polk for a reported car fire spreading. A neighbor reported visible smoke and flames and contacted emergency services.

Upon arrival, crews found multiple passenger vehicles, tires, and miscellaneous automotive materials fully involved in fire.
The blaze was approximately 30 feet from a nearby structure. Out of precaution, the Incident Commander upgraded the call to a “working still” for additional resources; however, those resources were canceled shortly thereafter.
The first-arriving engine company quickly brought the fire under control, preventing significant extension or further property damage. The estimated value of the loss is currently unknown.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries during suppression efforts and was transported to a local hospital. Crews were on scene for about two hours completing overhaul and cleanup.
A preliminary investigation by law enforcement and fire investigators determined the fire was accidental, originating from unattended burning in a metal crate that extended to nearby tires and vehicles. No further information is expected to be released.
We would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance: Hartford, Jackson, Richfield, and St. Lawrence Fire Departments, as well as Lifestar EMS. Law enforcement agencies assisting included the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center and Patrol Division, along with the Wisconsin State Patrol.
