April 10, 2026 – Kewaskum, Wi – The Kewaskum Police and Fire Commission have another meeting posted for Monday, April 13, 2026, in connection with the Village issuing charges against Police Chief Tom Bishop and Lt. Bryan Frank. The agendas are posted below.
Former Police Chief Richard Knoebel has also issued a statement concerning the situation. His comment is below.
”I have spent 39 years of my life in the Kewaskum Police Department, 24 years as the Chief, and am very proud of that.
My sole purpose was to make the Department professional and work for the safety and security of Kewaskum and its residents and I still hold those beliefs today. We have a Police Department today that still upholds those values. Our Department is professional, well trained and cares about our residents and provides the security that is needed in these times. We need to curtail judgement until these matters are resolved. I have complete faith in the Police and Fire Commission to make the correct decision in these matters. In the meantime, we need to show our support for all our Police officers as this is a trying time for them as well.
Richard L Knoebel
The agendas are posted in order received:
The above agenda mentions plan commission in attendance and the below agenda notes the clerical error and the Police and Fire Commission in attendance.
On a side note:
-During Thursday’s Police and Fire Commission meeting a question came up regarding filling two vacancies on the police department. The Chief indicated he was told to stop the interview process. The Police and Fire Commission told him to continue the process. Who told the chief to stop?
For all of those with such strong opinions on how the police should be doing their job and what they are doing wrong. You read it right here, they are hiring. Go do the job yourself. Or is it you would rather cast stones in your glass house. This is a textbook example of the Dunning Kruger effect.
It seems very odd that the PFC would instruct the Chief and Lt to continue the hiring process for the 2 vacancies when the charges filed against them are for violating the hiring process procedures. The hiring process should be paused until this matter is resolved.
