Fire Department wants to thank the Alderpersons that come out to tour the house during their Open House last Sunday. Chief Stephens said the staff greatly appreciates when elected officials show interest in their operation by coming out to visit. Just a reminder, you are always welcome to join them during their monthly meetings which is the third Monday of the month.
Administrators Update: While the council has approved the draft of the budget and ordered it published, we are still working out some details as we get final numbers from the state on grants and total assessments. Levy limit worksheets and Expenditure Restraint worksheets are getting completed which might adjust our final budget which will be approved at the November council meeting.
Next week, I will be at the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Conference October 19-21. I will be available via phone, email and text during that time.
Hwy. 83 Reconstruction Project: For the week of October 17: Construction crews continue to work on the final aspects of the project, sidewalks and landscaping. Most if not all of 83 is now open to through traffic and the completed project is still on track for the end of October or first week of November. A part of landscaping will be the reinstalling of signal lights at the key intersection including 83 and Monroe.
Berndt Park Bridge Project going to bid: The pedestrian bridge over the Rubicon River through Berndt Park is going to bid. The tentative plan is to have the bids back in and project constructed for a late November completion. Paths to either end of the bridge will be dug in this year and paved in 2018. The city staff is working with the Chamber to plan for the proposed memorial in this park.
Public Works looks to put temporary trail around fenced area along Mill Pond seawall: Our public works employees are working with the park employees on the temporary trail around the north-side of the Mill Pond. Problems with the seawall have caused us to put up a temporary fence and thus the reason behind the temporary path around the fencing. Permanent repairs to the seawall are not on the schedule for 2016.
Willowbrook Playground Equipment Going In: The new playground equipment that was approved in the CIP for Willowbrook Park will be constructed in early November with an estimated completion date of November 20.
