West Bend, WI – Members of the Washington County Hazardous Material Team (HAZMAT), which includes members of the West Bend Fire Department, participated in a combined training where the team had to work together to mitigate a mock hazardous material spill at Serigraph, Inc.
The scenario was a simulation of a hazardous material spill that the fire department and the team might experience in the field. The simulation included victims that had to be rescued and decontaminated, establishing incident command, identifying the hazardous material and stopping the spill.
Fortunately, true HAZMAT calls are not an everyday event, but for that reason, it was a great training scenario for all of the team members.
