March 4, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 12:42pm, The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received calls of a vehicle traveling southbound on I41 near Hwy 26 in Winnebago County that was traveling at an excess of 100mph and passing vehicles on the shoulder.
The Communications Center also received information that a Wisconsin State Trooper had attempted to catch up to the vehicle to stop it, but was unsuccessful. A Sergeant with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle driving at excessive speeds on Hwy 175 near Cty B in the Township of Byron.
As the Sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect accelerated, leading to a pursuit. The vehicle continued traveling southbound on Cty Hwy B at a high rate of speed. As it entered the intersection of Hwy 175 and Cty F, it sideswiped a milk hauling semi-tractor trailer, entered the west ditch of Hwy 175 and struck a telephone pole.
The driver, a 25-year-old Waukesha man, attempted to run from the scene of the crash but was taken immediately into custody. The driver and a female passenger both suffered minor injuries and were transported from the scene by City of Fond du Lac Paramedics.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will be filing charges of Felony Eluding and First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety against the suspect involved in the pursuit. The pursuit spanned a total of 2.6 miles.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Oakfield Fire Department, the Fond du Lac County Highway Department, Wisconsin DNR, and the City of Fond du Lac Paramedics.
