Interfaith Caregivers of Washington County announces new executive director | By Janean Brudvig

Washington Co., WIInterfaith Caregivers of Washington County is thrilled to announce Melanie Gonring has been selected as the new executive director for the organization. She will begin her role on September 9, 2024.

Melanie Gonring started her nonprofit career serving as an AmeriCorps member at the Volunteer Center of Washington County. She went on to work at the Volunteer Center for 10 years in various positions, ultimately serving as Director of Programming.

There she helped develop many of the Center’s core programs including Camp Superhero, the Do-Good Bus, the Champions of Change volunteer recognition event, and The Hub coffee shop.

Most recently, Gonring was the Associate Director of the Albrecht Free Clinic where she managed grant writing and fund development efforts and marketing and community outreach initiatives.

When Albrecht Free Clinic transitioned services in January 2024, Gonring joined LCHC as the Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator, fostering relationships with community partners and government officials.

“Stepping into the role of executive director at Interfaith Caregivers is a profound honor and a responsibility I do not take lightly,” said Gonring.  “It is a privilege to lead an organization committed to building lasting connections between seniors and caring volunteers throughout Washington County. I am excited to build on its legacy of kindness and service.”

Gonring steps into the position currently held by Janean Brudvig, who has led the organization the past 10 years. During her leadership, Interfaith has grown in size and scope, building on a mission that strives to keep Washington County seniors independent.

“Interfaith is a very special place, built on a strong foundation of volunteer service and community. Melanie is absolutely the right person to take the organization and its mission forward. I could not be more confident that with her passion, commitment, and vision, the future for Interfaith is very bright indeed.”

Gonring was born and raised in West Bend, and after a few years away, returned to the area in 2008. Prior to her work in Washington County’s nonprofit community, she worked in marketing for a Milwaukee-based law firm and as an event planner at the University of Minnesota. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota.

Gonring currently lives in West Bend with her husband Kevin and their cat Lilo. Her stepson Aaron recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and lives in Shorewood. Gonring is a member of the West Bend Sunrise Rotary, board secretary for Chix 4 a Cause, and a volunteer at the Hub. In her free time, she enjoys playing trivia, golfing, and traveling.
