Washington Co., WI – Tis the season for leaf raking or blowing … or fabulous kid-jumping-leaf piles for the motivated.
Leaf collection in Hartford
The Fall Leaf Pick-up for the City of Hartford will begin in October. Neighbors can rake leaves into the curb and gutter of their street. Leaf pick-up will continue periodically until the end of November.
Leaves will not be picked up curbside if they are in bags. Any bagged leaves must be brought to the Recycling Center during recycling hours. Please do not mix branches or tree limbs in with the leaves.
Raked, loose leaves will be picked up at the curb line in October and November only, prior to permanent snowfall.
The grass, garden waste and leaf bin is located in the public works yard. Grass, leaves, and garden waste that will rot down in a compost pile may be placed in the bin. Please empty contents of bags into the bin.
The Village of Slinger does not provide curbside leaf collection services. Residents may collect leaves and dispose of them in dumpster provided at the Public Works yard located next to the Slinger Library. Raking leaves into the roadways is prohibited and may cause blockages in the storm sewer system and could result in enforcement action.
**NEW** CURBSIDE BRUSH COLLECTION DATES
The Parks, Public Works & Forestry Department provides curbside pickup of brush between April and November. Brush must be curbside by 7 a.m. on the first Monday of each month. If a holiday falls on a Monday, brush will be collected the following day. Brush must be cut into pieces no shorter than 3 feet to allow for safe and efficient collection. Branches shorter than 3 feet in length may be brought to the Parks, Public Works & Forestry yard and deposited in the yard waste bin which is provided for lawn clippings and brush.
Branches left for curbside collection must be no smaller than one inch in diameter and no larger than eight inches in diameter. The cut end of the branch must be facing the roadway. All wires, nails and strings must be removed before the brush will be collected. Brush not stacked with cut ends towards the roadway or with wires, nails or stings will not be collected. Root ball and stumps will not be collected. Materials cleared from vacant lots will NOT be collected but may be dropped off at the Public Works yard waste bin..
Village Public Works Department annual Fall brush pick-up begins the second Monday in October. Although this process will take approximately 2 – 3 weeks to complete, we will not be extending the pick-up, or picking up brush that is put out after the first Monday of the pickup schedule.
Limbs shall be no more than 6 foot in length and placed at the curb with the trunk facing the street for easier handling. Please tie branches 2″ or smaller into bundles no larger than 2 feet in diameter using twine or light rope.
Brush in containers WILL NOT be picked up as too often there is yard waste in the
bottom of the container. Yard waste and leaves are not included in the pick-up.
