August 20, 2020 – Port Washington, WI – Nicholas G. Grosenick or Nick, a loving father, devoted soul mate and fierce bicyclist and overall outdoorsman tragically passed on Saturday, August 15, 2020 while cycling in the Town of Belgium, WI with the love of his life and close friends. Nick was 41, of Port Washington, WI and formerly of Watertown WI. Nick will be greatly missed, however there is some comfort in knowing he died doing what he loved.
Nick was born on May 22, 1979 in Watertown, WI where it was love at first sight by his beloved parents David and Patricia “Pattie” Grosenick. He was openly welcomed to the family by his favorite sister Amie.
After Nick finished school in Watertown he went on to get his degree in CAD graphics at Herzing University. Later in Nick’s career he earned a certificate known as Six Sigma Black Belt which parlayed him into an entirely new phase of his career and achieved great success. Nick had been a project manager for Stainless Steel Fabricating Inc of Columbus ,WI. However, more recently he was a senior quality manager of Watry Industries of Sheboygan.
Nick had many passions in life but none more precious than his three beloved children, his greatest and most joy filled accomplishments in his far too shortened life. Nicholas was proud of many things in life but none more important than Tyler, Colin and Elise. He was an active member of NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association). Nick coached his children along with many other kids, giving them a gift of cycling for life. Nicholas loved the great outdoors which began early in his life with hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, snowboarding and kayaking. This continued throughout his life be it biking, on and off road, hiking or anything on or around the water. Port Washington, to Nick, was living the dream.
Nick moved to Port Washington about ten years ago to start a new job but found a home. In Nick’s incredibly busy life he still found room for philanthropy. He was an inspirational component and actively involved in the building and management of the Fat Tire Trails along with his great friends from ZuZu Pedals Bike Shop. He was an active member of WORS (Wisconsin Off Road Series) for mountain bikes. His most recent feat, along with his good friend and support of family, Nicholas completed a fundraiser for the Port Washington Fire/Rescue Department which consisted of a 115-mile bicycle ride from Sheboygan Falls to Door County where $6500 dollars was raised. This lead to his generous donation of defibrillators in every fire engine in Port Washington Volunteer Fire/Rescue. One can only imagine the countless lives that will be saved in years to come – a legacy of Nick’s that will live on.
Nick is survived by his three treasured children, Tyler, Elise and Colin; his soul mate Andrea and her son Jerak (Nick’s bonus child); his parents, Pattie and David, his sister Amie Grosenick, his best friend and cousin Jess Jurick, her daughter Eveline (Nick’s niece by choice) along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Nicholas had countless friends which are far too numerous to mention. However, it would be remiss not to acknowledge Andrea’s parent’s Tom and Lori who held a special place in Nick’s heart.
He is proceeded in death by his aunts Kathy Freson and Diane Chapman, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
There will be a celebration of life held for Nick at a later date.
