April 17, 2025 – Washington Co., WI – Witnesses say the cable barrier in the median on I41 saved northbound motorists from a horrific accident after a semi blew a left front tire and crashed into the median on I41 southbound near Mohawk Road. The crash happened just before 4:25 p.m. Thursday. The northbound lanes were closed as mud and vehicle parts damaged oncoming traffic. One witness said a woman’s SUV windshield was struck by rocks but looked like it was peppered with bullets.
Three other vehicles were damaged in the crash.
Nobody was injured in the crash. The semi plowed into the grassy median throwing debris into the northbound lanes while pulling down more than 20 yards of the cable barrier.
At 5:30 p.m. one southbound lane was open, and authorities were still working to clear the debris and reopen the northbound lanes.
