West Bend, WI – Probably one of the favorite events for kids at the 2025 Classic Green Reunion is the change for them to drive their first John Deere tractor. It’s a real tractor … and makes the kid feel like a superhero because they really get to steer.
Three-year-old Kolton got behind the wheel. He climbed up on the big yellow cushion and as his legs dangled just over the seat his assistant put the tractor in gear and it jumped into action.
“I want to see him enjoy being a kid,” said his mom Reba Strack.
Kolton’s blonde hair fluttered in the wind. As he made the turn in the field the wide look-mom-I’m-doing-it smile never left his face.
The tractor drive is about 10 minutes as the John Deere’s average about 7 miles an hour; built more for pulling and less for speed.

The hands-on activity is one of many popular kid-related things to do. Friday and Saturday starting at 8 a.m. there will be another chance for kids to drive tractor.

There are plenty of other activities for kids including a farm play area and a John Deere teeter-totter complete with the traditional yellow wheels and tractor seat.

Kids 17 and under get into the event for free. Don’t forget Tom Schwai has a big Friday fish fry on tap and Saturday it’s Washington County Breakfast on the Farm.
