Holding the 9/11 Flag of Honor are Slinger School District superintendent Daren Sievers and James Smasal superintendent of Kewaskum School District.

The 9/11 Flag of Honor was created from all the names of those who perished in the terrorists attacks of 9/11 including greater West Bend area community member Andrea Lyn Haberman.

The Kewaskum Remembers 9/11 Memorial project is asking all the schools in Washington County, all the local governments in Washington County and all the businesses etc. that have flag poles, to fly one of these flags during the entire month of September to help people remember the victims on this the 15th anniversary.

Additional schools and businesses that would like to buy and fly the 9/11 Flag of Honor for the month of September should contact the Kewaskum Remembers 9/11 Memorial at [email protected] or visit www.kewaskummemorial.com or call Jerry Gosa at 262-339-1683.

The following is a partial list of schools and local governments that have already purchased 9/11 Honor Flags to fly this September: All Kewaskum and Slinger Schools, Villages of Kewaskum and Slinger local governments, West Bend City Hall, Police and Fire Departments; all Washington County Facilities, and the Germantown Police Department.

The Kewaskum Remembers 9/11 committee also hopes to create awareness about its mission and goal of building a 9/11 Memorial in front of the Kewaskum firehouse using an I-beam of steel recovered from the North Tower of the World Trade Center.  It is a project built on the inspiration for all communities and members to have a place of peace and reflection.

The park is being designed to be inclusive and to honor the bravery and courage of emergency first responders, military men and women, and the acts of kindness rooted in volunteerism.
