Public Works
The Jackson Water Utility continued this week with fire hydrant maintenance, meter change outs, and Digger’s Hotline locates. There were ninety-seven locates for the month of July averaging five per day. The new valve exerciser is still not functioning properly. The old one is being used until the new one is repaired or replaced. The raw water pumping is not being recorded by the SCADA system at Well #5. A circuit board at the pump needs to be replaced. The well will be offline until the repair is made. At Well #6, the Aqua Mag line began leaking and was repaired. Installation of alarms or a check valve on the line to prevent spraying of water on equipment is being investigated. The Water Utility is working with Sysco on their re-metering project for the cooling towers. The water flag at the Splash Pad has been repaired and put back into service.
The Street & Parks Department conducted routine maintenance, replaced broken trash containers, mowed various locations and prepped the ball fields. The remaining curbside brush was chipped this week. The next scheduled bags and brush pickup is August 15th. Weeds are being sprayed and hogweed is being removed from various locations throughout the Village. Mowing is still being done with one mower, while the second mower is being repaired by Reinders.
The Sewer Utility is completing work orders and is teaming up with the Water Utility, televising sanitary laterals while the meters are being changed out. The new gate and actuator has been scheduled for installation. The DNR has released the new Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for the Milwaukee River basin which affects our wastewater discharge permit at the plant. A meeting was held in Wauwatosa on Monday to review the new proposed loading. A more in-depth meeting is scheduled for August 4th with all the point sources (wastewater treatment plants) affected by the new TMDLs. We are decanting the blue tank in order to haul the sludge.
The contractor has begun completing punch list items on the Wilshire Drive reconstruction project. The old streetlights have been removed by We Energies. Installation of the new Village owned streetlights is being scheduled. The final landscaping is being completed for the private driveways that were replaced.
