February 5, 2026 – Town of Cedarburg – On Thursday, February 5, 2026, at approximately 1:18 p.m., the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on CTH I, north of Cedar Creek Road, in the Town of Cedarburg. Initial reports indicated a pickup truck had struck a school bus head-on.

Based on witness statements and the initial investigation, it was determined that a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound on CTH I when it began to drift over the centerline.
The Dodge Ram crossed into the northbound lane and struck the school bus head-on. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.
The Riteway school bus was occupied only by the driver; no students were on the bus at the time of the crash. The bus was driven by 71-year-old Deda Odekirk-Schuh of Saukville. Odekirk-Schuh suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The Dodge Ram 1500 was driven by a 57-year-old male from West Bend. The driver was pinned inside the vehicle and required extrication.
Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Both lanes of CTH I between Pleasant Valley Road and Cedar Creek Road will remain closed for several hours while a crash reconstruction is being conducted.
Assisting at the scene were the Ozaukee County Highway Department, Cedarburg Fire Department, Ozaukee Central Fire Department, Cedarburg Police Department, Saukville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Ozaukee County Emergency Management, Ozaukee Crash Reconstruction Team, and Ozaukee County Drone Team.
