Obituary | Aurel James Helmbrecht, 90, of Hartford

August 27, 2019 – Hartford, WI -Aurel James Helmbrecht, 90, of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away suddenly in his home on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Aurel was born April 3, 1929 in Antigo, WI to Sophia A. (nee Steinfest) and Joseph L. Helmbrecht. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Aurel was united in marriage to Marlene R. Jacklin in Hubertus, WI on December 29, 1951. Aurel worked for the United State Postal Service in Hartford for 40 years and was often seen on his route with his dog, Tag. He also worked part time for the Hartford Booster for nearly 60 years. In earlier years Aurel enjoyed auto-racing at the Slinger Speedway with friends. Aurel and Marlene also enjoyed many years vacationing in Florida.

Aurel is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marlene; dear sons, Terry Helmbrecht of Hartford and Troy (Julie) Helmbrecht of Chippewa Falls; cherished grandchildren, Melissa ( Dwayne) Greutza, Tera (Shawn) Sonnentag, Melanie (David) Brelsford, Heather (Brian) Senkbiel; cherished great-grandchildren, Ava, Braden, Weston, Simon, Hazel, Stella, and Gabriel. He is further survived by his niece, Sherry, and nephews, Mike, Jimmy, Randy and Dale Jacklin, among many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Margaret (nee Gundrum) and Benjamin Jacklin; sister, Marge (John) Dietzler; niece, Sharon Dietzler; and nephew, Ronnie Jacklin.

Funeral Services for Aurel will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union Street Hartford, WI 53027) with Rev. David LaPlante officiating.

Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Inurnment in St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, Hartford, WI.
