Obituary | Doris A. Spors (new Piacentine) ,87, of West Bend

January 11, 2020 – West Bend, WI –Doris A. Spors (nee Piacentine), 87, of West Bend died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Ivy Manor in West Bend. She was born January 10, 1932 in Milwaukee to John and Hilda (nee Hacker) Piacentine.

Doris was united in marriage to Jerome C. Spors on August 21, 1954 in Milwaukee. Jerry preceded her in death on July 10, 2003.

Doris graduated from the former St. Mary’s School of Nursing. After their marriage, she and Jerry lived in Milwaukee before moving to Elm Grove. She was employed as an RN at St. Luke’s Hospital and then St. Michael’s Hospital before they settled in West Bend where she worked at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital until she retired in December of 1994.

She was very active in 4-H for many years and boarded horses for over 20 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering as a driver for Meals on Wheels and working at the West Bend Food Pantry. She also drove many elderly members to the Christian Women’ Confraternity meetings at St. Frances Cabrini.

Family was the most important part of Doris’ life. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and watching her children and grandchildren grow up. She was also passionate about bowling and BINGO.

Doris is survived by her 5 children: Michael Spors of West Bend, Michelle (Rodney) Deitsch of Batavia, John (Kelley) Spors of Slinger, Tom (Tracy) Spors of West Bend and Sherri Schill of West Bend, 8 grandchildren: Sarah (Matthew) Veley, Angie Spors, Adam Deitsch, Cody (Becky) Deitsch, Ellysa Schill, Iyana Spors, Unique Spors and Veronica Spors and 2 great-grandchildren: Mitchell and Meadow Veley. She is further survived by 2 sisters-in-law Marie Clare Murphy of West Bend and Irmgard Spors of West Bend and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda Piacentine, her husband Jerry Spors and 3 siblings: June Moran, Ruth Barr and John Piacentine.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend with Rev. Andrew Infanger presiding. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, at the church only from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Washington County Humane Society are appreciated.

The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
