They competed in an essay contest (meaning of freedom, significance of federal holidays, US flag, and site of Tomb of the Unknown) for a once-in-a-lifetime experience of being able to lay the wreath at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The trip also included Ford’s Theater, Mount Vernon, museums, memorials and Quantico FBI training facility.  They visited Flight 93 memorial on route to D.C. and Gettysburg on route home.

Students all had a new appreciation of our nation’s freedom and the great sacrifices of many.
