11-year-old Kewaskum boy injured in accident on I41 shows signs of recovery | By Fay Olla

June 6, 2019 – Kewaskum, WI – The Olla family of Kewaskum has some positive news to share following an accident at the end of May involving five of their boys.

Three of the brothers in the accident have been released from the hospital and Luciano, 11, remains in critical condition. Below is an update from mother Fay Olla.

Luciano’s name means bearer of light. At home his grandpa likes to call him El Luchador— which means ‘the fighter’ in Spanish. On the soccer field he is known as Luc the Destroyer— he is unstoppable as the center-back. To me— his mother— he is my sweet Luci.

Having said that, Luc is already proving himself to be true. In the last couple of days he has begun to breathe on his own and we were able to take him off the ventilator. He is being weaned off of his sedative meds and we have seen more movement.

In Luc fashion, he has ripped his feeding tube out of his nose and we have to keep an eye on him because he is so strong. He definitely knows what he wants!

He continues to rest most of the time but we have seen him open his eyes more times and when I talk to him, he makes eye contact with me.

Yesterday morning he spoke to Tony, “I am going to get back up there.”

We pray and hope for our Luchador— and we continue to be amazed by God’s grace through this storm.

Valentin is a miracle through his death— we pray that Luc will be a miracle through his life.

Thanks guys for fighting for him with us.

On Saturday, June 1 the Olla’s announced the passing of their 15-year-old son Valentin. The family said his organs were donated so others may live.
