West Bend, Wi – Four educators in the West Bend School District were recently recognized with the annual Rolfs Educational Foundation Awards, continuing a tradition that’s now 55 years strong. The honors were presented during Staff Appreciation Week. Each recipient received a $1,000 award, presented by Claire Rolfs alongside Superintendent Jen Wimmer.
Each year, the foundation recognizes one educator in four areas: elementary, middle school, high school, and special services. What makes the award especially meaningful is that nominations come from the people who see these teachers in action every day—students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
Here’s a closer look at this year’s recipients:

Leah Miller, a fifth-grade teacher at Silverbrook Intermediate School, is known for creating a classroom where students feel supported and challenged. With more than two decades in the district, she’s praised for tailoring her teaching to meet students where they are and helping them grow. She also plays a leadership role on her school’s team and leads the fifth-grade math group.

Laura Seidensticker, a speech-language pathologist in the district’s Early Learning Program, helps students find their voice—literally and figuratively. She connects communication skills to real-life situations, building confidence and independence. She’s also recognized for her expertise in assistive communication tools and for helping expand their use across the district.

At West High School, Holly Walls brings energy and structure to the math classroom. Her students often work together at whiteboards, tackling real-world problems. She’s known for clear instruction, thoughtful planning, and using data to support every learner. She also leads the school’s Algebra Professional Learning Community.

Nicole Williams, a special education teacher at McLane Elementary School, is recognized for her patience and dedication. Since joining the district in 2000, she has created a classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
