October 1, 2026 – Village of Jackson, Wi – On September 30, 2026, at approximately 7:37 a.m., the Jackson Police Department investigated a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash that occurred on Jackson Drive in front of Jackson Elementary School.

The investigation determined that a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Kewaskum woman was traveling northbound on Jackson Drive when a 9-year-old pedestrian entered the roadway in the crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle.
The child was transported by a parent to a local emergency department for evaluation and was later released.
Officers reviewed available video footage of the incident. The investigation did not reveal evidence that speed, reckless driving, or distracted driving were contributing factors in the crash.
The driver’s view of the pedestrian was partially obstructed by another vehicle immediately prior to the crash.
The driver initially stopped following the crash but subsequently left the area without reporting the incident to law enforcement.
Officers were able to identify and locate her, and she was cooperative with the investigation. The driver was issued citations for Failure to Report an Accident and Operating Without Insurance.
This incident serves as an important reminder for both motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution in school zones, particularly during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
Drivers should remain alert for children entering the roadway, and pedestrians should stop and look for approaching traffic before entering a crosswalk.
Police said, “We are thankful the child involved in this incident was evaluated and released without serious injury.”
