Thankful to see our great American flag flying again at Hartford schools | By Heather Rodriguez

January 5, 2021 – Hartford, WI – It came to my attention a few months ago that the schools in Hartford Joint 1 were lowering their flag at the end of the school day and not flying it on non-school days.

The issue was they didn’t have sufficient lighting to fly it 24 hours a day per US Flag Code.
This of course bothered me because like so many of my friends, the American flag means so much to me.
The flag is a sign of hope and perseverance. It is a reminder of the many great American soldiers who have fought and died standing up against the evils of this world. It is a sign of what this country was founded upon and the independence and freedoms we often take for granted.
Our flag is separated from the corrupt and selfish elected officials that far too often get into positions of authority (on both sides). Our flag reminds me of the responsibilities we all have as Americans to keep the American spirit alive and be types of people that make America great.
So a sincere thanks to my friend Danton Maertz and Lemberg Electric for coordinating and donating the time and materials to have done this at no cost to the district.”
