Another shift in polling places in the City of West Bend, WI

June 20, 2022 – West Bend, WI – The City of West Bend common council will review a proposal during its meeting Monday, June 20, 2022, to relocate a polling location in District 5 for the August 9, 2022 Partisan Primary and November 8, 2022 General Election.

The proposal is to swap out voting at the VFW Post on Sand Drive and move it to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School on Indiana Avenue.

This isn’t the first time a polling place has been shifted.

In March 2020 voters in District 1 were directed to cast their ballot in the upcoming election at the Washington County PAC, 333 E. Washington Street (Indiana Ave. entrance), rather than at Meadowbrook Manor, 475 Meadowbrook Drive. That site has since been changed back to Meadowbrook Manor.

Also, voters in District 8 cast their ballot at West Bend City Hall, 1115 S. Main Street, rather than Cedar Ridge, 113 Cedar Ridge Drive (Off Scenic Drive). District 8 has since moved back into the district with voting at the West Bend Masonic Lodge.

According to the agenda:

“The City of West Bend Clerk’s Office is striving to maintain safe standards for the upcoming August 9, 2022 Partisan Primary and November 8, 2022 General Election.

To obtain these standards the Clerk’s Office is asking the Common Council to consider officially relocating polling places for the August 9, 2022 Partisan Primary and November 8, 2022 General Election. According to Wis. Stat. 5.25 all polling locations should be determined by the governing body at least 30 days prior to an election.

The proposed polling places meet all safety and accessibility-related concerns. All impacted voters will be notified of the change in polling locations through various outlets, including publishing in the newspaper, posting on the city website, updating the MyVote information and sharing on social media.

Thank you for your consideration in this request to move polling places. This adjustment is
intended to be beneficial to the voters of West Bend in an attempt to preserve a safe voting
experience.

The West Bend common council meets Monday night, June 20, 2022 in the council chambers at City Hall, 1115 S. Main Street. The meeting is open to the public.
