Drunk woman crashes with two kids in the car

Washington County Sheriff

Oct. 27, 2016 – Richfield, WI – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on Sept. 23, 2016 at 7:44 a.m. that resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old Village of Richfield woman for operation while intoxicated first offense with a criminal enhancer due to the suspect having her two children, ages 7 and 8, in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The investigation showed the woman was southbound on State Highway 164 when she rear-ended a vehicle in front of her that was making a lawful left turn onto Hubertus Road.  The force of the collision pushed the victim’s vehicle 130 feet southeast of the intersection.

The suspect driver failed the field sobriety test and was arrested.  The driver further stated she was not going to submit to an evidentiary test of her blood. The Sheriff’s Office ultimately just obtained a search warrant for it.  Once at the medical facility, and after she was presented with the search warrant, the driver still refused indicating she was never under arrest.

After the driver was secured to the hospital gurney she decided to not actively resist the legal blood draw.  The legal blood recently came back with a reported value of .246.  The amended criminal complaint charged her with the increased BAC violation.
