Washington Co., Wi – There is a grassroots effort gaining steam in West Bend, Wi with hopes of saving an iconic resource in the community for senior citizens as the future of the Samaritan Home is being weighed by the Washington County Board.
“People want to know how they can get involved,” said organizer Mary Moll. “It’s simple, call your county supervisor and call the people on the Ad Hoc Committee.”
“Why would I go to church if I didn’t believe in doing what the Lord says about caring for the elderly and disabled,” she said. “I care very deeply and it’s the Christian thing to do. I hope the supervisors and our government leaders in this county are able to see that too.”
Moll said the people on the committee are weighing options for the future of the Samaritan Home, but she felt only the most dire considerations are being discussed. “Why do they never mention the people who live there,” she said. “Or talk about what happens when you split a family up and make it harder to visit.”
Moll is encouraging people across Washington County to pick up the phone and have a conversation with members of the Samaritan Ad-Hoc Committee. The names and numbers are listed below.
