Three cats die in Sunday morning house fire in Hartford, WI | By Chief Paul Stephans

July 18, 2021 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Fire and Rescue Department responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Russell Avenue in the City of Hartford at around 8 a.m. Sunday morning, July 18, 2021.

Multiple callers reported the fire.  The only occupant, an adult female, was able to self-evacuate.  An adult male and 7-year-old boy were not at home at the time of the fire.  The single-family home sustained severe heat, smoke and water damage.

Three family cats did perish in the fire.

No damage estimates are available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hartford Fire and Police Departments with assistance from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

Hartford Fire and Rescue Department was assisted by the Hartford Police and Utilities Departments, Slinger, St. Lawrence, Jackson, Richfield, Neosho Fire Departments and Lifestar EMS. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the cause and origin investigation
