June 10, 2026 – Kewaskum, WI – Letter to the Village of Kewaskum Residents,
I would like to address the most recent concerns involving our police department and administration.

It was brought to the attention of the Village Board that Mr. Haske had several prior work-related reprimands, including being released of his duties as a Juneau County deputy. I will not discuss specific details, as this information was presented during a closed session.
The Board discussed these concerns over several meetings and determined the most appropriate course of action was to conduct an external investigation. Given recent history involving another Kewaskum police officer, we believed it was important to exercise greater diligence in evaluating hiring decisions. When concerns are brought before the Board, it is our responsibility to address them. Ignoring such allegations and later facing a preventable issue could be considered negligent.
After receiving the findings of the external investigation, we agreed the next course of action was to present the matter to the Police and Fire Commission for review.
The comments made by President Martin to the media and on social media do not reflect my views or position on this matter. I am satisfied the Police and Fire Commission and members of the Village Board made determinations without bias.
I look forward to a better Kewaskum.
Village of Kewaskum Trustee
Wendy Muckerheide
