Letter to the Editor | Vote April 4 in West Bend School Board election | By Jody Geenen

January 25, 2023 – West Bend, WI – Our local election is fast approaching. I’m hopeful we will have a truly conservative West Bend School District School Board where the majority will actually care about parental concerns, safety, back-to-the-basics of truth-and-fact-based academics for our students, and being good stewards of our taxpayer dollars.

Letter to the Editor vote
On the topic of safety, school board candidate Bill Schulz presented a resolution in the fall at the annual meeting to install cameras in the hallways and entrances and locks from the inside of classroom doors.
Until that resolution was introduced, I had assumed that teachers could lock intruders out of their classrooms because it’s such a simple and common sense safety measure. But evidently I was wrong. Although many people voted in favor of these safety measures, I was quite surprised to see some school district employees vote against them and cause the resolution to fail. I’m suspecting it was more about not wanting to find common ground with the concerned citizens even if it spited themselves.
Nevertheless, Bill’s common sense voice must have been heard because cameras are now being installed. If we can get Bill Schulz and our other two conservative candidates whose last names also begin with an “S” elected, maybe we can get those locks on the doors as well.

Vote for Bill Schulz, Laurie Schloemer-Aleven, and Nick Stewart for the West Bend School District  School Board. We elected two wonderful candidates last year, John Donaldson and Melanie Ehrgott, and they have been doing their best to bring common sense and conservative values to the table, but they can’t do much when they’re the minority.

When we elect our three “S” candidates on or before April 4, the school board votes could swing 5-2, finally giving families a strong voice to speak on their behalf. Let’s make that happen!
